Toisc gurb í seo “Bliain na Gaeilge”, bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge fíor-speisialta i mbliana. Bhí seomraí ranga agus siúltáin na scoile maisithe le saothar ealaíne agus go leor leipreacháín, seamróg agus ar ndóigh, ár ndathanna náísiúnta á léíriú le bród. Míle buíochas le Jean, Mamaí Liam, a rinne obair de scoth chun fuinneoga na hoifige a mhaisiú.
I mbliana, bhí dhá dhráma againn san Fhéile Drámaíochta – ‘Rí na Leon’ a bhí curtha i láthair ag páistí ó na hardranganna faoi stiúr Mhúinteoirí Jill, Mairéad agus Clár, agus ‘An Garbhán’ a bhí curtha ar an stáitse ag Naíonáin Mhóra leis An Múinteoir Danielle. Bhí an-chuid oibre curtha isteach sa dá dhráma seo, rud a aithníodh nuair a bhí moltaí agus gradaim á dtabhairt ag an moltóir.
Bhain gach duine sár-taitneamh as an gCéilí Mór a bhíonn ar siúl againn go bliantúil. Tagann comhphobal na scoile le chéile chun rincí traidisiúnta ar nós “Fallaí Luimní” agus “Ionsaí na hÍnse” a dhéanamh. Rinne grúpa “Rince na Scuaibe”, agus bhain a lucht féachana rí-taitneamh as! Thug grúpa d’ár gceoltóirí cuairt ar Scoil Laisiríon Naofa níos luaithe sa lá agus rinne siad ceolchoirm beag le hamhráin, ceol agus rince do pháistí na scoile sin.
Ghlac páistí ó na hardranganna páirt i dTráth na gCeist a bhí eagraithe ag Glór Cheatharlach agus bhain páirtnéirí Chairde ag Léamh taitneamh as an dTráth na gCeist a bhí acu freisin.
Bhí buaiteoirí againn i gcomórtas ealaíne Sheachtain na Gaeilge.
This year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge was particularly special, as 2018 has been designated as “Blian na Gaeilge.” As The classrooms and corridors throughout the school were bedecked in beautiful seasonal art work, with leprechauns, shamrocks and our national colours to be seen throughout. Buíochas to Jean, Mamaí of Liam, who painted the windows of Oifig na Gaelscoile too.
This year, we had two different dramas in the Féile Scoildrámaíochta (Schools’ Drama festival) – the Lion King- presented by children from the senior classes under the guidance of An M. Jill, Mairéad and Clár and the Gruffalo, featuring the Senior Infants from An M. Danielle’s class A tremendous amount of hard work was involved in both shows and we are delighted that this was recognised in the adjudicator’s summation and the prize giving.
One of the annual highlights is our Céilí Mór, where the entire school community gets together and dances the traditional Céili dances such as “Fallaí Luimní” (The Walls of Limerick) and “Ionsaí na hInse “(The Siege of Ennis.) A number of children also danced the “Rince na Scuaibe” to the delight of the crowd! Some of our school musicians visited St. Laserian’s School where they sang, danced and played for the children there earlier that morning.
Children from the senior classes represented the school in the annual fun table quiz run by Glór Cheatharlach and Rang 5 partnered with their reading buddies from Rang 1 for their own quiz.
We also had a number of winners in the art competition organised by Glór Cheatharlach.
