Mar chuid de Fhéile Peile na n-Óg, chuireamar fáilte is fiche roimh Aogán Ó Fearaíl, Uachtarán CLG, ar an Luan. Bhí garda onóra ildaite curtha le chéile ag na painéil éagsúla, idir chamógaíocht, iománaíocht agus pheil agus na camáin ardaithe go bródúil acu. Bhí daltaí uile na scoile bailithe i Halla de Róiste, agus na ceoltóirí ag seinnt “Cluiche an Domhnaigh” agus “Lean mé suas go Ceatharlach” ar na huirlisí éagsúla.

Labhair an tUachtaránleis na páistí faoi thabhacht na gríomhachta fisiciúla agus faoi laethanta a óige féinagus é ag imirt I gCo. an Chabháin, a chontae dúchais. Bhuail sé le hOisín Ó Ceallaigh, a bheidh ag imirt ar son na Gaelscoile i gcluiche leathcheannais iománaíochta i bPáirc an Chrócaigh mar chuid de chluichí Mini 7s i rith an tsamhraidh. Is é Oisín an dara ball dá chlann atá righnaithe don onóir iontach seo agus guímid gach rath air agus é i mbun iománaíochta i bPáirc an Chrócaigh.

Mar is eol daoibh, bronnadh an Brat Scoile Ghníomhaí ar an scoil le déanaí, agus d’ardaigh an t-Uachtarán go hoifigiúil é, i dteannta John Kearns ó Éire Óg, Daidí Evan agus Dhara. Bhíomar ag súil go mbeadh Brendan Hayden ar fáil chun cabhrú leis an ardú chomh maith ach faraoir, bhí sé gafa ar an lá. Táimid an-bhuíoch do John agus do Brendan araon as an síor-thacaíochta a chuireann said sr fáil dúinn anseo sa Ghaelscoil chun gnéithe éagsúla dár gcluichí traidisiúnta a chur chun cinn.

As part of the GAA Feíle Peile na n-Óg, we welcomed GAA President Aogán Ó Fearaíl to the Gaelscoil on Monday. The children from the hurling and camogie panels and the Rathcairn panel formed a colourful Guard of Honor in various GAA team colours with hurleys held aloft. The guests entered Halla de Róiste where the entire school had gathered and the musicians played the theme from “The Sunday Game” and of course “Follow Me Up to Carlow”

The President spoke to the children about the importance of physical activity and of his own school days playing GAA in his native Co. Cavan. He was introduced to Oisín Ó Ceallaigh who will represent An Ghaelscoil in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Mini-Sevens game at half time in hurling semi-finals in Croke Park over the summer. Oisín is the second member of his family to be chosen for this great honour and we wish him an most enjoyable day on the hallowed turf of Croke Park!

As you will be aware, An Ghaelscoil was awarded the Active School Flag last summer and we had the official raising of the flag by the President and Éire Óg representative John Kearns, father of Evan Rang 6 and Dara Rang 1. Unfortunately, Brendan Hayden who was also to help raise the flag was unable to be with us. Both John and Brendan have been instrumental in helping us promote our native games down the years and we thank them for their continued support.

As part of the Féile visit, the school was presented with 6 Gaelic footballs which are already in daily use!
