Bhronn Liam Mac an Bhaird beart leabhar Gaeilge, a raibh duaiseanna buaite acu le déanaí, ar an scoil nuair a tháinig sé ar cuairt chugainn agus d’inis sé roinnt scéalta do na páistí ó na hardranganna. Luigh sé seo isteach go hálainn leis an dtionscnamh scéalaíochta a bhí ar siúl ag Rang 6 le an scéalaí Aideen Mc Bride ó thús an téarma. Mar chríoch leis an tionscnamh seo, chaith daltaí ó Rang 6 tréimhse sna ranganna sóisir ag insint scéalta dóibh mar a tharlaíodh in Éirinn tráth. Tháinig Deirdre Uí Dhúda agus a madraí Conán agus Sadhbh (schnauzer bheaga)ó “Dogs Trust” chun na scoile agus rinne sí ceardlanna iontacha le gach rang sa scoil faoi chúram a thabhairt do mhadraí.

We were delighted to welcome several visitors to the Gaelscoil last week. Liam Mac an Bhaird spoke to our senior classes and presented a number of award-winning books to the school. He also told a number of stories which dovetailed beautifully with the work Rang 6 have been doing this term with the storyteller Aideen McBride. As the finale to this project, students form 6th class spent some time telling stories to the junior classes, as would have happened in Ireland in years past.

As part of Science Week, all the children from Rang 1 to Rang 6 had a talk from Dr. Rosemary O’Hara Brady, Lecturer in Biochemistry and Quality Control at Institute of Technology, Carlow.

Deirdre Ní Dhubhda from Dogs Trust gave a talk to each class on the care of dogs. We were intrigued to learn that her two miniature Schnauzers, Conán and Sadhbh, were able to understand and follow commands “as Gaeilge!”
