A Thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Tá fíor áthas orm a chur in iúl daoibh gur éirigh lenár n-iarratas don scéim seo. Is deis den scoth í do pháistí agus táim cinnte go mbainfidh siad idir thaitneamh agus thairbhe as.

I am delighted to let you know that we have been successful in our application for this programme. It is a truly wonderful opportunity for children to have weekly music lessons by a professional music teacher during the entire school year. All children from Rang 5 will be taking part in the choral element of the programme this year.

Each child will learn a repertoire of tunes/songs and will be able to perform individually and as part of a group. As well as singing with their class and with other classes from our school, we will also be joining up with other local schools for a performance later on in the school year.

All children from Rang 2 agus Rang 3 will be taking part in the recorder element of the programme this year Each child will learn a repertoire of tunes/songs and will be able to perform individually and as part of a group.

The cost of tuition (30 x 45m lessons) will be entirely covered, with equal funding being contributed by the Carlow Music Education Programme and the Gaelscoil Board of Management.

The feadóga/tin whistle element of music in our school will not be neglected because of the recorder programme – the two instruments will be done in tandem as the finger skills are quite similar and therefore transferrable without much difficulty.

Classes will begin on Tuesday 17th September. We are delighted that the teacher nominated for our school is Róisín Nic an Rí, a past pupil of the very first class which began in l982 – a lovely coincidence! Róisín is qualified in both classical and traditional music and has many years of teaching experience.
